Waiver of School Fees for 457/TSS Visa Holders in Regional South Australia

By 13 February 2019August 19th, 2020No Comments

Many 457/TSS visa holders are surprised to be told that education fees – and quite hefty ones – are payable if their children are attending Government schools.

These fees vary from one state/territory to the next, however the South Australian Government has recently announced that it will waive education fees for such children living in regional Australia.

The Government’s motivation is to encourage more TSS visa holders to accept work and settle with their families in regional areas.

Given that the New South Wales and Victorian Governments in particular have been very vocal about the need to encourage sponsored overseas workers to settle in regional areas, Ajuria Lawyers will be interested to see whether other State Governments follow suit.
