By 6 August 2018August 19th, 2020No Comments

A date has just been announced for the commencement of the much-discussed Training Levy under the Skilling Australians Fund (SAF).  The levy will come into effect on 12 August 2018 and will affect all TSS and 186 visa applications lodged from that date.

The levy amount will be:

Business size Temporary visa Permanent visa
Turnover <10 million $1,200 per year $3,000
Turnover >10 million $1,800 per year $5,000

The levy is part of the changes announced by the government in April 2017 and replaces the requirement that employers sponsoring a worker under the TSS or permanent program demonstrate an expenditure on their Australian workforce.

The levy cannot be passed on or recovered from the employee and limited refund provisions will apply.
